The Background of El Osito Films:
My name is Barrett Dennison, not an easy name to pronounce if your first language isn't English. I found this out while I was participating in a Documentary workshop in Antigua, Guatemala during my MFA. (http://www.actualitymedia.org/)
My friend, filmmaking collaborator, and Colombian National soccer fan Luis J. Galvis, told children at the school that my name was El Osito, or the little bear. It was yelled at me throughout the little town while working on our documentary even by their parents. It stuck and became a fitting alterego for El Osito the filmmaker.
We often find predatory snakes in the media business. I prefer to be the little bear, strong enough to stand up for what's right yet caring enough to relate to the story and subject. I specialize in storytelling. Whether that be commercials, documentary or narrative pieces. I believe good stories exist to be told and that’s what drives me.
I've worked on projects throughout the world (Guatemala, Hungary, Argentina, Italy and Egypt to name a few) and I'm interested in films that matter. I prefer to work closely with collaborators and clients and care not only about the projects we create but the lives we create with each other as well.
Let me work with you and help craft a story that appeals to people's hearts and minds.
